Vintage vinnies store Sydney Rd - opens tomorrow

There is a brand new Vinnies set to open tomorrow, Sydney Road Brunswick, opposite Barkley Square, just around the corner from Wilson St.
Window display looked great, lots of vintage furniture, clothing and kitchenware! ( but I forgot to take a photo!). Can't wait to check it out!

A skirt or two!

Managed to get a bit of sewing done last weekend, trying to work through a few items from the UFO pile. These two needed waistbands to finish -

Put them together last year, then didn't quite finish them. This one is new ( and needs a final tweak to the hem before wearing), inspired by a similar stripey skirt made by "Sew Brunswick" .

And there is still more to come! (Making up for all that time my overlocker sat unopened in its box!)

Craft events coming up

(Oops, wrong date sorry- now fixed) Brunswick North primary have their school fete coming up, Saturday 22 March, cnr Pearson and Albion sts Brunswick. Brunswick South West Primary have their fete next Friday, 28 Feb.

Just read about "the north market" in the Moreland Leader, this Saturday also, Wilson Ave Brunswick. Plus the "White night" event is on in the city. And if you are heading to Bunnings on Sunday, drive a bit further up the road to Broadmeadows Bunnings and buy a sausage fom me or my wonderful work colleagues, as we are raising money for our early childhood intervention program (to purchase new toys and equipment).

Colette Sorbetto take 4!

This one is my favourite so far. I made it a couple of inches longer, and also re drew and cut the back a bit higher, to try and reduce the previously mentioned "shoulder slippage". Kind of works, and definitely sits better.

Probably should have ironed this first! Gorgeous "prints charming" fabric from the stash- think I bought it for a skirt, but I like it better as a top!

P.S found a new craft shop in Puckle St today, opened Oct last year. (19 Puckle St, same side as Collins bookshop and the newsagent, down past the newsagent heading towards Mt Alexander Rd). Good wide range of craft products, from sewing notions, fat quarters, scrapbooking, wool and more, plus they are running sewing classes in the back room. They have an online store which has been running for a few years) Worth a look, although the Coburg Statewide sewing centre is closest for thread etc, and I love the huge range of fabric ( and the bargain cuts) at GJ's and Rathdown Remnants. But having said that, I am trying very hard to sew from the stash at the moment!

Yet another Sorbetto!

Lovely and cool for a hot day, but the fabric is a bit sheer- which I forgot until I was half way through sewing it! Had to retro fit the lining in the front, mostly ok but not my best sewing effort ( but luckily only visible on the inside). Need to re think the pattern, need to take it in half a size as it tends to slip off my bony shoulders! Had plans to sew today, but it is just too hot.

Deck chair make over part 2

Very happy with my deck chair make over! Fresh colour on the timber, bright padded fabric cover (simply tied over the existing canvas). Pity all the green grass in the backyard got cooked in the heat the other week!
