Drawing a line

I have been trying to get back into drawing again - not that I have done anything much lately! I occasionally watch some drawing videos on YouTube, and have been wanting to try drawing buildings. I found an amazing “ urban sketcher” online, and subscribed to her posts/ videos. Her name is Liz Steel, & she is a former architect turned full time artist/ blogger/ teacher. I love her style, and also her reviews of different sketching tools ( paints, pens, pencils etc.).

I have a set of watercolour pencils I have had for years, but had not heard of watercolour markers until recently. I bought a set of Monte Mart markers, but they are the first MM product I have been disappointed with! They are fine as regular markers, but I could not really get any result by adding water!

So I bought some Staedler markers from Officeworks - our local branch here in Coburg has put in a HUGE art section, sooo many lovely things…anyway, I need to play a bit more with the markers and try out different types of paper, but so far so good. I have not done much, just some little doodles to try them out. I was inspired by Liz Steel’s drawing of her tea cups, so tried playing with colours, and also drawing things on my desk!  I definitely need to play a bit more, but the colours & painterly effects are quite nice.
