Say hi to the newest members of the family- 4 young Isa Brown hens! Picked them up on Sunday, they are still settling in, learning where the perch is, where the food is etc. We pick them up and pat them a couple of times eah day so they will be nice and quiet and used to people.
Today was the first morning they actually jumped down off the perch and walked out of the chookhouse by themselves, I had to lift them down and show them the door the previous 2 mornings!

Sewing part 4
The first - neutral toned- quilt I made for my lovely friend, ended up on her daughter Miss H's bed that night! Even though I had specifically "not put any pink or purple in it" so Miss H wouldn't claim it!
Of course the only solution was to spend the weekend sewing one just for Miss H, in all the bright, jewelled tones ( opposite to her mother's quilt!). I found a piece of pink pinwale cord for the back, and already had plenty of rainbow strips pre cut from the baby quilt I made late last year. So it was quite quick to whizz the strips together, plus a couple for the back, make some bias binding and put it all together. I love the bright colours. And so did Miss H!

Another blanket finished!
I finished knitting another blanket, using 2 balls of Porta Craft acrylic. The next one is already started! If today's crazy weather is anything to go by, it is definitely knitting weather finally (hey I am wearing a woollen cardigan and cooking minestrone soup as I write this, it is cold out there!).

The bird shirt - 5 minute quick fix
I found this sweet shirt at the op shop recently, I didn't have time to try it on, but as it was a Rivers size 16 I figured it would fit with room to spare!
There was a fabric tie in the bottom hem, which I didn't really like- but it was the perfect size to pull out, cut a teeny hole in the binding around the neckline, and re thread the tie through there. Just right to pull the neckline in enough so it doesn't gape and fall off my shoulders, it gives a much better shape around the neckline, and makes the shirt a little bit different to the original RTW shirt. I LOVE the bird print fabric, this is now one of my favourite shirts!
