Green is for go!

This old timber traffic light has been sitting in the shed at work for years, unloved, gathering dust, and under threat of being thrown out.

So when I spotted it recently, I decided all it needed was a makeover. 

A light sand to remove the old varnish, and 1 coat of matt black paint, and it is already looking completely different!

The colours stand out so much better against the black, even though I sanded  them back too. Planning to glue discs of bright craft foam on to  make the lights look really bright!

Of course the girls were quite intrigued by what I was doing in the backyard!

Coburg Hand Knitters market

Had a lovely day out on Sunday catching up with friends at the yarn market, followed by lunch at Zaatar in Coburg.

So many gorgeous yarns!

But I already have 3 (or maybe 4!) knitting projects in the go ( and let's not count the sewing projects!!!) so I resisted the urge to buy any more wool. 

But I couldn't resist buying a jar of quince jam!

2019 Comic Con sewing part 2

One costume mostly done. Just needs some hand stitching on the front, possibly a clasp added.

 It is wearable now, but I hope to get the sleeves tidied up,and  a lining added. 

Looks more finished now I have the collar on!

the countdown begins...4 weeks til Comic-Con

After weeks of research, figuring out a pattern, making a toile etc- I finally drafted the pattern and got the front sewn today! ( any guesses?!!)

Heathcote road trip

Autumn is indeed a fine time of year for a roadtrip Katie! Headed up the Hume to Heathcote today, dropping my neice back to her family (my sister was in Heathcote for a 10km run, well done sis!). It was a busy place between the runners and a couple of bus loads of tourists, there was a queue at both bakeries!

 I was the only customer in the old courthouse craft shop though. Full of lovely hand made goodness- quilts, dresses, knitted hats and cute baby booties, jams and more. Plus fabric, sewing notions, and Bendigo Woollen mills yarn.
